Diana Zhgenti

Honorary Mrs. Diana Zhgenti was born in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1980. In 2002, she graduated from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University with a double major in international law and international relations.
After completing her college education, she started her career as an international law specialist at the Ministry of Finance and was gradually promoted to several positions such as Senior Specialist and acting head of division.

In 2004, she joined the diplomatic services at the legal department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was appointed as the Deputy Director.

In 2005, she was appointed as the Deputy Director of the Consular Department by the Certification Commission of the Ministry. A year later, Ms. Zhgenti was promoted as the director of the Consular Department.

From 2007 to 2008, she was assigned the position of the head of the consular section of the Embassy of Georgia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

In 2009, she started to work at the Georgian Young Lawyers Association (GYLA), the biggest NGO in Georgia specializing in protecting human rights, raising legal awareness of the society, establishing respect toward the law, and supporting development of the effective, accountable, and transparent government. She was leading different projects implemented by GYLA and in 2011, she was appointed as a board member.
In July 15th 2013, she returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was appointed as the Consul General of Georgia in New York. She is fluent in English and Russian and holds a diplomatic rank of Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.

In August 2018, Consul General Zhgenti was elected as a President of the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York Inc. (SOFC) - Managing one of the largest consular corps in the Untied States of America. She served as a President for an annual term until August 2019.
She is married and has three children.
