Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Visegrad Group (V4) and the Eastern Partnership countries met in Warsaw

12.04.2017, Warsaw - Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Visegrad Group (V4) and the Eastern Partnership countries met in Warsaw to discuss the ways of further developing co-operation between the European Union and the Eastern Partnership countries and of involving the Visegrad Group in this process  The V4 ministerial meeting adopted a joint statement. By decision of the ministers, Eastern Partnership Summit declaration, which will be adopted in Brussels in 2017 will reflect support for the European aspirations of the Eastern partnership countries. The V4 ministerial meeting was followed by a plenary session devoted to such issues as the strengthening of co-operation between the Eastern partnership countries, in the fields of transport and communications, in particular. The importance of implementing strategic projects and integrating east European countries into the pan-European transport network was also highlighted. Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze appeared with a speech during the plenary session. He highlighted the importance of the Visegrad Group (V4) and the Eastern Partnership. He also spoke about the role of Georgia as a corridor connection Europe with Asia and the significance of implementing transport and infrastructure projects. Mikheil Janelidze paid special attention to the forthcoming summit Eastern partnership Summit scheduled for November 2017 and brought to the  attention of his colleagues the Georgian side’s expectations and priorities with respect to the Summit.Mikheil Janelidze extensively spoke about the Georgian Government’s six-point plan designed to bring Georgia closer to the EU.The Georgian Foreign Minister noted with satisfaction that the Visegrad Group (V4) continues to support the aspirations of the Eastern Partnership countries. The Minister welcomed the decision of the Foreign Ministers, which is included in the joint statement of the V4 ministerial meeting  held on 12 April. Mikheil Janelidze also focused on infrastructural projects that are or will be implemented in the future and will bring benefit both to the region and the European Union.The ministerial meeting was attended by the foreign ministers of the Visegrad Group (V4) and the Eastern Partnership countries, Bulgaria, Estonia, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden, Croatia,  as well as  by European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy & Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn.
