Mikheil Janelidze has held a briefing on the occasion of the launch of visa-free travel with the EU

27.03.2017, Tbilisi – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia conducted a special briefing in reaction to the launch of visa-free travel with the EU and the Schengen Area. The Minister congratulated Georgia on this historical achievement calling on Georgian citizens to comply with rules and procedures of visa-free regime.  “I’d like to congratulate you the launch of visa-free travel with the EU countries. This important process involving huge reforms and political support has come through to the end. From tomorrow, Georgian citizens can deservedly get the benefit of free movement throughout Europe. Integration with the EU is one of the key priorities of our government and people” – Mikheil Janelidze said. According to the Foreign Minister, legislative and institutional reforms implemented over the past years has led Georgia to become a reliable partner of the EU. He called upon Georgian citizens to fully realize the consequences the violation of visa-free travel rules may entail. In connection with the launch of visa-free regime, Georgia’s diplomatic representations and consular offices abroad work around the clock.
