On the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Warsaw, Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze took part in the meeting of the NATO Foreign Ministers and the Foreign Ministers of the Enhanced Opportunity Partner’s Group.

The Enhanced Opportunity Partner’s Group was launched at the NATO Summit in Wales, by the Member States of the Alliance, with the goal of further deepening co-operation between the armed forces of Allies and Partners.

This Group brought together the five most interoperable nations: Georgia, Sweden, Finland, Australia and Jordan.

This year, the meeting of the Enhanced Opportunity Partner’s Group was attended by High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.

The participants of the meeting discussed the challenges facing international security and the ways to strengthen international stability. Special attention was paid to the need to fight against terror, as well as to the issues relating to maritime security and migration crisis.

In his remarks delivered at the meeting, the Georgian Foreign Minister emphasised the importance of deepening co-operation with the Alliance and welcomed the efforts of the Allies to enhance defence and security capabilities of the partner countries, including through the projects under the NATO-Georgia Substantial Package.

The meeting of the Enhanced Opportunity Partner’s Group was held as a working supper, at the Opera House in Warsaw.
