Exhibition - “Living Culture of Three Writing Systems of the Georgian Alphabet” was held in Warsaw

 

On 11 December, 2015 the exhibition - “Living Culture of Three Writing Systems of the Georgian Alphabet” was officially opened at the State Ethnography Museum in Warsaw. The event was jointly organized by the Embassy of Georgia to the Republic of Poland and the State Ethnography Museum in Warsaw, with the support of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and K. Kekelidze National Center of Manuscripts. The sponsors of the exhibition were “TBC Bank”, National Ballet of Georgia - “Sukhishvilebi” and companies – “IDS Borjomi Europe”, “PiastPol”, “Marani 1915“ and art studio “Lur’ge Rombie Mosaic".

The exhibition was officially opened by the Director of the State Ethnographic Museum in Warsaw Mr. Adam Czyzewski and the Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Poland Mr. Nikoloz Nikolozishvili, who in his speech spoke about the history of origin of the Georgian alphabet and stressed the importance of its uniqueness.

The event was attended by the representatives of Polish Governmental Institutions, Sejm and Senate, diplomatic corps accredited in Warsaw, cultural and educational sector, as well as Georgian Diaspora.

Especially for the opening ceremony of the exhibition TBC Bank kindly granted Embassy a special T-shirts, pencils and stickers within the project – “წერექართულად” aimed to promote the Georgian language abroad.

Throughout the event, Embassy organized Georgian alphabet’s writing competition and awarded three winners special T-shirts, pencils and stickers who succeeded to write most prominently.  

Moreover, traditional Georgian women’s costumes – Abkhazia and Pshav-Khevsureti and man's costume - Chokha of the Georgian National Ballet “Sukhishvilebi” as well as micromosaic jewelry made by Tamta Alkhazashvili, the representative of Tbilisi based art studio “Lur’ge Rombie Mosaic" were presented at the exhibition.

The audience also had an opportunity to taste Georgian wine and Churchkhela at the opening ceremony.

The exhibition - “Living Culture of Three Writing Systems of the Georgian Alphabet”, Georgian traditional costumes and micromosaic jewelry will be presented at the State Ethnography Museum in Warsaw for one month.
