Statement of the Georgian Foreign Ministry following the publication by the European Commission of a second report on the implementation of the EU-Georgia Visa Liberalization Action Plan

The Georgian Foreign Ministry welcomes the publication by the European Commission of a second report on the implementation of the EU-Georgia Visa Liberalization Action Plan (VLAP), which is an important step towards the introduction of visa-free travel to EU countries.

According to the report, Georgia has complied with the requirements of the first (legislative) phase of the visa dialogue, and the Commission can therefore begin to assess the country's obligations under the second phase of the Action Plan.

It should be emphasized that this progress is the result of the joint efforts of various Georgian government agencies. The Georgian Foreign Ministry also welcomes the recent statement of the EU Home Affairs Commissioner, Ms Cecilia Malmström, which praised the Georgian government's efforts in the visa liberalization process.

The Georgian government reaffirms its readiness to fulfill all the requirements of the second phase of its Visa Liberalisation Action Plan.
