The Georgian Foreign Minister took part in the Visegrad 4 Eastern Partnership Extended Meeting of Foreign Ministers in Kraków

The Georgian Foreign Minister, Ms Maia Panjikidze, recently took part in the Visegrad 4 Eastern Partnership (EaP) Extended Meeting of Foreign Ministers held in Kraków. The Meeting was attended by the Foreign Ministers of Ireland and Lithuania -- as current and future presidencies of the EU Council -- as well as by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-president of the European Commission, Ms Catherine Ashton, and the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, Mr. Štefan Füle.

Those present at the meeting discussed the expectations of and the lead-up to the Eastern Partnership Summit scheduled to take place in November 2013 and the progress that has been achieved in terms of implementing the EaP Roadmap. The Visegrad Group, the Foreign Ministers of Ireland and Lithuania made a joint declaration on the EaP.

During her visit to Kraków, the Georgian Foreign Minister also held a bilateral meeting with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Ms Catherine Ashton. Discussions between the two focused upon the priorities of Georgia-EU co-operation and the process of preparing for the EaP Summit in Vilnius; special mention was also made of the EUMM's role in Georgia, and Ms Ashton was also updated on various other ongoing processes in Georgia.
