Information on the NATO-Georgia Commission meeting

 

The NATO-Georgia Commission (NGC) meeting was held at the NATO HQ on the 18th of March, 2013. At the meeting, the Georgian First Deputy Minister of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Mr Davit Dondua officially presented the 2013 annual national programme of Georgia. The Allies positively assessed the programme presented by Georgia and expressed their readiness to assist the Georgian side in successful implementation of the programme.

The Alliance members reaffirmed their support for Georgia's integration with NATO and Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Allies underlined the importance of co-habitation and successful co-operation between the political forces in terms of Georgia's democratic development of Georgia and integration with the Alliance.

The Deputy Ministers of Corrections and Legal Assistance, Ms Sophio Japaridze and Mr Archil Talakvadze addressed the meeting participants and provided them with the information about reforms planned in the penitentiary system, which were positively assessed by the participants. Alliance officials welcomed Georgia's achievements in terms of reforms in penitentiary system and the reforms due to take place.
