Statement of the Georgian Foreign Ministry in reaction to the attack on the U.S. Mission in the Libyan city of Benghazi and the death of the U.S. Ambassador to Libya and the embassy employees

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia expresses its deep concern over the attack on the U.S. Mission in the Libyan city of Benghazi and the killing of four American diplomats, including the U.S. Ambassador to Libya, Mr. Christopher Stevens and the U.S. Embassy officer, Mr. Sean Smith.The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia conveys its condolences to the families of the victims, to the U.S. Government and to the American people for this great loss. Georgia aligns itself with the statements of the U.S. Secretary of State and condemns the violence directed against the United States. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia reaffirms its readiness to continue close cooperation with the United States in its fight against violence.Tbilisi, 12 September 2012
