Statement of the Georgian Foreign Ministry regarding the recent meeting held between representatives of the Russian government and of the occupation regime of Abkhazia on 'the delimitation of the state borders and the demarcation of the territorial waters

On 8 November 2011, mass media sources disseminated reports according to which a third meeting between representatives of the Russian government and of the occupation regime of Abkhazia on 'the delimitation of the state borders and the demarcation of the territorial waters of the Russian Federation and of the republic of Abkhazia' is being held in Sokhumi in Georgia's occupied region of Abkhazia.

The Georgian Foreign Ministry states that these so-called "negotiations" between the occupant country and the occupation regime it has created are in violation of international law and that any agreement these two parties may reach will be illegal and meaningless, as the Georgian government is the only party authorized to conduct negotiations regarding the delimitation of Georgia's state borders and territorial waters.
