Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze is paying an official visit to the Republic of Poland. In the frames of the visit, Mikheil Janelidze met Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Stanisław Karczewski and Deputy Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Ryszard Terlecki.

On June 21, 2016 the Minister of Defence of Georgia, Tinatin Khidasheli payed a working visit to the Republic of Poland. In the framework of the visit, the Defence Minister participated in the discussion - “NATO’s Open Door Policy in Warsaw and Beyond” organized by the German Marshall Fund of United States. The event was attended by the representatives of Polish Governmental Institutions, local and international media, academic circles as well as the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Warsaw.

The 25th Annual Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will take place 1-5 July 2016, bringing together parliamentarians from across the Organization's 57 participating States at the ExpoGeorgia Exhibition Center in Tbilisi. Held under the theme "25 Years of Parliamentary Co-operation: Building Trust Through Dialogue," the Session will commemorate the quarter-century anniversary of the Assembly's work.

On May 30, 2016” the Embassy of Georgia to the Republic of Poland held a reception to celebrate Georgia’s Independence Day as well as the 25th anniversary of restoration of State Independence. Within the framework of the reception, H.E. Ambassador Nikolozishvili, on behalf of the President of Georgia, awarded former member of European Parliament Mr. Pavel Kowal with the Order of Honour of Georgia for his exceptional stance and firm support of Georgia’s national interests within the international community.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs is deeply concerned by the fact of murder committed in the village of Khurcha, Zugdidi District and expresses heartfelt condolences to the family and relatives of the victim, Giga Otkhozoria. This criminal act once again demonstrates the highly alarming situation in the occupied region of Abkhazia, Georgia and the full responsibility for it lies with the Russian Federation as with the power in effective control of the region. The abovementioned criminal act reaffirms the need of establishing international security mechanisms in the occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region.

As it was announced, the contest with the name “Young Ambassadors of Georgia” took the start in 2014 which is open for those young people who are living abroad and in the country of their destination have opportunity to share information about the economy, education, culture, sports, youth policy and history of Georgia with their foreign and Georgian  contemporaries.

On 9 March, the European Commission presented a legislative proposal to amend Regulation (EC) No 539/2001 to the European Parliament and the EU Council to allow short-term visawaiver for Georgian citizens within the Schengen area. We welcome the European Commission’s initiation of the legislative process, which is yet another step towards visa liberalisation with the European Union and the clear recognition of the reforms carried out by the Government of Georgia.

On March 7-8, 2016 the Interagency Group of Georgia headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. David Dundua held a working visit to the Republic of Poland. The delegation consisted of Advisor to the Minister of Defence of Georgia in International Affairs Mr. Shota Gvineria; Director of the Security Policy and Euro-Atlantic Integration Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Mr. George Dolidze and the Head of the NATO Integration Coordination Department, Office of the State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ms. Nata Koridze.

The United Nations Geneva Office soon will have traditional Georgian qvevri to decorate its interior to mark the 70th anniversary of the UN foundation. The Georgian Government will present the UN Geneva office with a qvevri, which is included in the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list.
