Mikheil Janelidze has participated in the Conference of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group in Krakow

19.10.2016 Krakow – Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze delivered a speech at the working session dedicated to the security of Poland and the EU new member states.  Minister of National Defence of Poland Antoni Macierewicz also addressed the participants of the Conference.In his speech, the Georgian Foreign Minister focused on the Euro-Atlantic security and on the decisions adopted by the Alliance in Warsaw – to ensure member states’ security, to promote stability along NATO borders and to help partners to strengthen defence capability. Mikheil Janelidze focused on the decisions adopted by the Alliance at the Warsaw Summit in terms of Georgia and underlined the Alliance’s readiness to enhance practical co-operation with Georgia.Mikheil Janelidze informed the participants of the Conference on Georgia’s role in the region in terms of security environment and democratic and economic development. The Georgian Foreign Minister underlined that the reforms carried out in the country, the liberal economic policy, the democratic parliamentary elections once again demonstrated that Georgia is a trusty and important partner for the West.  Speaking of the Euro-Atlantic security, Mikheil Janelidze put special emphasis on Russia’s aggressive policy in the region, particularly on the military aggression against Georgia and the occupation of the country’s territories in 2008, as well as on Crimea’s annexation. The working session was held in a Q&A format. The Ministers answered the questions put by members of the European Parliament and experts participating in the Conference.Mikheil Janelidze took part in the Conference of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group on the invitation of one of the leaders of the Group, Vice President of the European Parliament Richard Charnetsky.
