The visit of Deputy Minister of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia Mr. Valeri Kvaratskhelia in Warsaw

On 17-19 October, 2016 in Warsaw within the framework of the International Organization for Migration Project on “Piloting Temporary Labour Migration of Georgian Migrant workers to Poland and Estonia" workshop was held, organized jointly by the Missions of IOM to Georgia and Poland.

The main partners of the project are Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs (MoLHSA), its LEPL Social Service Agency (SSA), Georgian Embassy to the Republic of Poland and Associations of private employment agencies.

The Deputy Minister of MoLHSA Mr. Valeri Kvaratskhelia was the head of the Georgian delegation composed of key staff of the MoLHSA, SSA, Public Service development Agency (PSDA) of the Ministry of Justice, Office of the State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, accompanied by IOM Mission to Georgia.

During the workshop participants discussed the opportunities of expanding Georgia’s engagement in international labour migration processes, enabling temporary employment of Georgian migrant workers at the labour market of Poland, in accordance with the existing demands, that will support development of migrants’ professional skills and will protect their labour and social rights.

In the framework of IOM Pilot Project Mr. Valeri Kvaratskhelia, Deputy Minister of Labour, Health and Social Affairs (MoLHSA) conducted the bilateral meetings with Mr. Stanisław Szwed, Secretary of State and Mr. Bartosz Marczuk, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy of Poland. The sides discussed the development of migrant mobility operational framework between Georgia and Poland, which will balance local labour market workforce supply-demand. During the meeting with Stanisław Szwed, Valeri Kvaratskhelia suggested his colleague to form the bilateral memorandum in order to establish tight cooperation in migration issues and invited to Georgia to finalize it.

Within the visit, Georgian Deputy Minister met Mr. Marek Tombarkiewicz, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Health of Poland and shared the Georgian experience in developing and implementing the Anti-Hepatitis C programme along with other issues of bilateral interest.
